You may have heard that kombucha can help with a diet or even with weight loss. This hasn't been scientifically proven, and we can't prove it either, but some people believe this to be true. If you don't know what kombucha is you can read here what is kombucha or how kombucha is made before you continue.
Does kombucha help with weight loss?
Different kombucha's can contain varying amounts of sugar. YAYA Kombucha contains relatively little sugar which makes it a better alternative to sugary soda's. YAYA Kombucha contains about 4,6 grams of sugar per 100 ml, while sugary soda's contains an average of 11 grams of sugar per 100 ml. Kombucha is therefore lower in calories, making it a better fit in a healthy diet.
Is kombucha vegan?
Only plant-based ingredients are used to make kombucha (tea, sugar, water). It is sometimes thought that the lactic acid bacteria in the kombucha culture are bacteria from milk and therefore it would not be vegan. Lactic acid bacteria have this name because, in addition to regular sugar, this bacteria can also convert milk sugar (lactose) into acid. For this reason, this type of bacteria is mainly used in the dairy industry for making cheese and yoghurt. The bacteria or acid itself does not have an animal origin.
Is kombucha keto?
Kombucha is low in proteins and fats and often contains a small amount of sugar. Sugar is needed for making kombucha. Kombucha is therefore not keto.
Why should you drink kombucha?
Because its delicious :-)
Most people drink kombucha because they enjoy the flavour and the refreshing quality of the drink. A 'good' kombucha usually has a fresh apple-like flavour which makes it a perfect alternative for sugary sodas and alcoholic drinks. In addition to this, kombucha makes a perfect mixer for cocktails and mocktails.
